Kids say the darnest things! The other week me, the hubs and our little one were outside. Let me set the scene for you, it was a beautiful sunny day and we were all outside. My little one wanted to be picked up, so of course I obliged. I’m holding her and she gently touches my face, looks at my upper lip area and says lovingly, “Mommy, you have a beard like Uncle Travis.” Just like that. Point – Blank – Period. Nothing more. Now, I don’t have a beard, but maybe my upper lip area was time to be de-fuzzed but geez! Like Uncle Travis? Really?!?
I took it all in stride, me and the hubs giggled, of course the little one had no idea why – she is just 2.5 years old. But later that night, you KNOW I had to handle the ‘stache. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that I was like … I should blog that. So here we are, I’m going to share my favorite way to get rid of unwanted facial hair at home. Of course you can go and get your upper lip waxed or threaded, but those are not for me. Waxing that skin is a no-go, I’ve gotten burned before and that was it for me. Thank the heavens it did not permanently scar! Threading removed a little piece of my soul it hurt so bad! So that’s another big ol’ NO!
My favorite is Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover Duo. The best part about this kit is the skin guarding balm. For me, the skin guarding balm is a must-have because it keeps the area from being all red and giving you that “I just got rid of my mustache look.” Before discovering this product, I would only get rid of unwanted facial hair at night because by the morning my skin would no longer be all red and irritated. I used all different types of hair removers that claimed to be gentle on the skin, but let’s be real – if the goal is breaking down hair enough to get rid of it how can it be gentle on the skin? That’s why the guarding balm is so clutch!
